Back, im Schiffbau der vorderste Teil des Schiffes oberhalb des Oberdeckes, der oben durch das Backdeck abgeschlossen ist. Die Back hat den Zweck, das Oberdeck gegen überkommende Seen zu schützen. Es birgt meist die Spillmaschine, die Aborte sowie die Räume für feuergefährliche Gegenstände, während auf dem Backdeck die Ankerlagerung angeordnet ist.
