Iron bricks

Iron bricks, bis zur Sinterung gebrannte Ziegelsteine oder Tonplatten, die aus einem eisenreichen, rotbrennenden Ton hergestellt sind. Durch Anwendung eines reduzierenden Feuers kurz vor Schluß des Brandes erhalten die Iron bricks auf den Außenseiten, seltener auch im Innern, eine dunkelbraune bis blauschwarze Farbe (s. Pflasterklinker).
