Kaabah (eigentlich Würfel), ein kleiner Tempel von quadratischem Grundriß in Mekka, welcher das größte Heiligtum der Mohammedaner ist. An der südlichen Ecke derselben ist ein besonders heilig gehaltener schwarzer Stein eingemauert, der zur Kiblah, d.i. zum Orientierungspunkt, für alle Moscheen der Erde dient, da die Mohammedaner bekanntlich beim Gebet stets nach Mekka gewendet sein müssen.
