First, 1. Kante, die durch das Zusammentreffen zweier Dachflächen gebildet wird, bei Ziegeldächern mit in Kalk gelegten Hohlziegeln (Firstziegeln, s.d.), auch mit Schieferplatten und Metall, bei Schieferdächern mit Platten von Kupfer, Zink, Eisenblech (Firstdecke) so eingedeckt, daß das Metall ca. 15 cm über[40] beide Dachflächen reicht (vgl. Firstblech); 2. im Bergbau der obere Teil aller bergmännisch ausgehauenen Räume.
